Hunton Trane a division of Hunton Group in Houston, TX has a new and exciting opportunity to join our organization as a Building Automation Systems (BAS) Systems Application Engineer. 

Job Description

The Building Automation Systems Application Engineer will be responsible for developing the Installation Drawings, Submittal Packages, and manage/assist with Graphics Development, and Controller Programming for Building Automation Systems (BAS) as well as Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Systems. The Controls Application Engineer will work under the direction of the Engineering Manager, Operations Manager, and work with Project Managers per assigned projects.

Responsibilities

  • Create Controls Installation Drawings and the Controls Wiring Drawings from the Estimate and all Contract Documents.
  • Develop Controller Input, Output, and Device Submittals from the Estimated Project Scope, all Contract Documents, and MEP Contract Drawings.
  • Establish the Project Material Requirements from contract Installation and Submittal Packages.
  • Develop or Adopt and maintain a project archive database including but not limited to Controls Technician final As-Built information.
  • Provide technical support and customer service for controls installations, programming, and graphical data for all projects.
  • Occasionally assist or self-perform controls project start-up and commissioning. (per as needed basis as well as training and development through in-field hands on experience)
  • Candidate will, on occasion, perform troubleshooting, testing, and commissioning of BMS and HVAC systems and electronics.
  • Place accurate orders from approved vendors upon project management approval of the material order manifest. (Purchase order generation and tracking as well as material handling, and tracking will be required)
  • Ability to layout products within an HVAC or BAS control panel and provide detailed wiring diagrams. (A basic understanding of electricity and electronics is preferred)
  • Ability to make suggestions and recommendations to maintain a competitive stance in the marketplace and reduce installation times.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical), or a two-year Trade/Technical certification or formal trade certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience with DDC, PLC, or similar Ladder-Logic and/or Block Style programming is preferred.
  • Must be able to understand and implement industry, company, and manufacturer wiring standards and practices along with reading and understanding mechanical/electrical specifications, plans, sequences, and wiring diagrams.
  • Knowledge of HVAC equipment, systems, operation and sequence of operation preferred.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, and ACAD. (experience with Visio is a plus)
  • Education and certifications on various systems are desired. Experience level will be considered and may replace some certification or educational requirements. To be considered on a case by case basis.
